Manipur media goes blank to protest militant threats

Kohima, Oct. 11 (EMN): Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM), All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Manipur Hills Journalists' Union (MHJU) have jointly suspended all news, print (evening and morning) and local electronic media on Tuesday in Manipur due to threats and intimidation to the media fraternity by militant groups.

Reliable sources from Manipur informed Eastern Mirror that the media outlets in the state have decided to cease the publication till Thursday (October 13) morning in their state.

It was informed that the media fraternity will stage a sit-in while they would also reach out to hold meetings with civil society organisations in regard to the issue on Wednesday in Manipur.
