Manipur marks Teachers’ Day with introduction of various educational schemes

: Honouring the dedicated teachers with awards and announcing new schemes for the students marked this year’s state-level Teachers Day observation in Manipur on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Biren Singh said that education acquired from a teacher played an important role in everyone’s achievement. Informing that considering the high pass percentage of students in the HSLC this year, the government has approved development of 10 high schools to higher secondary schools.

He also informed that coaching classes for UPSC Civil Service Examination would soon start at State Academy of Training wherein 200 students would undergo face-to-face training from best IAS mentors from Delhi, adding that the government was starting its ‘Go to Hills’ to ensure benefits of various schemes to the people.

In his speech, Education minister S Rajen informed that under the second phase of the School Fagathansi Mission of the government, infrastructure facilities of 60 schools would be developed to provide better education to children.

During the celebration, nine teachers from different schools were presented with the State Teachers’ Award, 2021. The Appreciation Award for Teachers of Education (U), SCERT and Education (S) was also presented to personalities from the teaching community.

The awardees were — Kh Memtombi Devi of Ananda Singh Hr. Sec. Academy (Imphal East), Sh Rullingson Rokho of Phuba High School (Senapati), A Ranjita Devi of Khangabok Hr. Sec. School (Thoubal), H Priyobrata Singh of Sardar Patel High School Khurkhul (Imphal West), Lalsangliana of NKT High School (Churachandpur), S Manichou Singh of Pallel High School (Kakching), N Binoy of Chingmei Upper Primary School (Bishnupur), L  Jiteshwari of Ibotonsana Girls Hr. Sec. School (Imphal West) and Sheiphani Roel Moyon of Liwachangning High School (Chandel).  While Ningmareo Shimray, Lecturer of Ukhrul Higher Secondary School was honoured during the programme for winning the National Teachers’ award 2021. 

 On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched Chief Minister’s College Maheiroi e-support (CMCMES) Scheme. He also launched NIPUN Bharat Programme (SSA) in the State under Samagra Shiksha, which aims to achieve the goal of proficiency in foundational literacy and numeracy for every child by the end of Grade 3.

 The CMCMES scheme aims to equip the meritorious college students of the State belonging to the lower income group with the required digital device to take part in the online education, which is an important mode of education in the present time. Under the scheme, smart phones have been allocated to 2,000 students so far.
