Imphal, June 15 (EMN): Manipur today recorded 785 new Covid-19 cases, when 8,074 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s active caseload to 8,744, a press release said.
According to a release by Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director and spokesperson of Health department, the new positive cases were detected from 13 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (309), Imphal East (115) and Thoubal (62) districts.
Meanwhile the state reported eight deaths due to Covid-19, taking the state’s death toll to 998. The victims are from Imphal West (four), Imphal East (one), Chandel (one), Kakching (one) and Kangpokpi (one). They expired at five health centres in the state, it stated.
On the other hand with 476 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 51,354, official sources said. Thus, Manipur’s recovery rate stands at 84.05 %. Out of total recovered cases, 47,593 are from the general population while the remaining 3,761 are central security personnel. The newly recovered patients are from various Covid care facilities including 309 from home isolation facility, it added.
As of Tuesday, 6,86,974 persons were screened at the entry points of the state while 8,26,571 persons were tested for Covid-19 at various testing centres in the state.
The state has so far given 5,54,593 anti-Covid jabs including 4,72,857 first and 81,736 second doses to the residents.The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated for both the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine is 64,658 while 1,49,683 frontline workers received both doses.
Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 1,55,075 people between 45-59 years and 94,607 people above 60 years besides 90,570 people between 18-44 years.
Meanwhile Manipur police detained 337 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 1,19,700 was also collected as fine.
