Manipur logs 7 more Covid-19 fatalities; 372 new cases

Imphal, Aug. 20 (EMN):
Manipur recorded 372 new Covid-19 positive cases, when 3,642 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Taking the state’s total infection tally to 1,10,215 with 4,303 active cases, according to sources.

The newly infected persons are mainly from Imphal West (131), Imphal East(74) and Churachandpur (47) districts. The state also reported 7 more Covid-19 fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s death toll to 1,739. The victims are from Bishnupur (three), Imphal West (two), Imphal East (one) and Thoubal (one) districts.

With 1570 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid19 cases in Manipur reached 1,04,173. Thus, the state’s recovery rate increases to 94.51 percent.

Till date 11,75,666 persons were tested for Covid-19 while 7,31,532 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, the source said.

Manipur has so far given 14,67,603 doses of Covid vaccines including 11,73,931 first and 2,93,672 second doses to the residents.

A total of 5,98,037 first doses and  21,816 second dose of Covid vaccine were given to people between 18-44 years and 2,88,666 first doses and  1,12,952 second doses  to people between 45-59 years besides 1,45,561 first doses and 59,634 second doses to people above 60 years till date, as per the latest vaccination report.
