Manipur launches health and nutrition campaign

As a part of the ongoing celebration of 4 years of achievement of the BJP-led government in the state, Manipur deputy chief minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh formally launched the health and nutrition campaign at the City Convention Centre in Imphal on Friday.

Besides Yumnam Joykumar Singh, Social Welfare minister Okram Henry Singh, advisor to chief minister (Health) Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, principal secretary of Health and Family Welfare V Vumlunmang, and commissioner Gyan Prakash were present during the launching event.

The day’s campaign was as a part of Prime Minister’s Poshan Abhiyan (PM’s overarching scheme for holistic nourishment) with an aim to make a holistic approach to create awareness for health and well being among the people.

Speaking at the launching function, Singh stated that with the completion of 4 years of citizen centric governance, the state government has been able to achieve advancement in different sectors. He added that many new schemes meant for benefiting people have been implemented and benefited the needy people.

Reiterating the government’s commitment for giving maximum benefits to the people, the minister called upon all to contribute in order to dispense maximum benefits to the needy people.

Also speaking on the occasion, the minister of Social Welfare Okram Henry Singh stated that various programmes and schemes have been implemented for benefitting people particularly the pregnant women and the aged people in the state. Besides, he stated that special programmes have been launched for the differently abled persons.

Advisor Dr. Ranjan Singh also spoke on the importance of attaining a healthy society for enabling a developed state.

As part of the campaign, a total of 23 stalls jointly organised by the Health and Famil Welfare were set up. Anganwadi workers and helpers, healthcare workers and students have also participated in the campaign.
