Imphal, Nov. 25 (EMN): The first ever two-day King Chilli festival come to an end on Sunday at Chaengdai village in Imphal under Tamenglong district which is one of the largest producers of king chilli known as U-Morok in local dialect.
U Morok eating competition, pole climbing, displaying traditional attires, camping and tree plantation were the main highlights of the festival which was organised to promote the chilli varieties its growers in the region apart from showcasing natural beauties of Manipur hill villages.
Among the 11 participants, Mariam Gangmei, Singuiliu and Gaikhuiliu were adjudged as the best U-Morok producers. The competition was judged by subject matter specialists Homen Kangjam, Gaipuichung Kamei, Kolom Rabi and PS Lavid of Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Senapati and Tamenglong districts.
Chairman Namsinrei Panmei of Autonomous District Council (ADC) Tamenglong Vice chairman SG Pamei of ADC Tamenglong and Chief medical officer Dr Chambo Gonmei of Tamenglong were present as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively during its inaugural function held on Saturday.
