Manipur: Kakching Police recover suspected heroin

Imphal, June 18 (EMN): A commando unit of Kakching Police detected and seized 610 grams of suspected heroin number four powder, while frisking and checking at Pallel check post in Kakching district on Saturday.

The incident took place when one smokey grey Wagon R car, coming from Pallel side, was asked to stop for checking, but the car tried to escape from the checkpoint. However, the commando unit managed to stop it at a closer point from the check-post around 11:10 am.

The driver of the car and other occupants, identified as Letkhogin Haokip (18), Lamvah Haokip (38) both from Molnoi, Ch Nemneikim Mate (43) of Khonomphai village and Nengneichong Haokip (37) of Moreh ward no. 1, all under Tengnoupal district, were detained for verification.

The driver along with the said car was searched after observing legal formalities wherein 50 soap cases containing suspected heroin number four powder weighing around 610 gm were detected.

The seized drugs are estimated to be worth INR 13.42 lakh in local market and INR 1.34 crore in the international market. The arrested persons along with the seized items were handed over to Kakching Police Station for further necessary legal action.
