Imphal, June 3 (EMN): Girl students outshone boys by bagging the top two positions in Manipur’s Matric examination popularly known as High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2017, the results of which was announced here on Saturday. The examination results can also be checked online(http://manresults.nic.in/).
Priyanka Moirangthem of Nirmalabas School secured the first position, while Thounaojam Joylity Devi of Eureka AcadeyThounaojam bagged second position. Laishram Librada Singh of Sacred Heart School Yairipok and Shaha Minhaz of Tiny Tots’ Unique school Imphal jointly bagged the third position.
The result of the much-awaited HSLC exam 2017 conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur(BOSEM) was formally declared by the Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh in the presence of Parliamentary secretary (Education) K Robindro and BOSEM officials in a press conference here around 4.30 pm this afternoon.
A total of 23,232 including 11,925 males and 11,307 females out of 34,829 students who appeared, have passed. It can be recalled that 20,753 students out of 31,749 students who appeared, have passed in 2016. The pass percentage is 66.70 pc against last year’s 65.37. In 2015, the pass percentage was 61.59.
The pass percentage of this year’s HSLC or matric examination is 66.70 percent which is highest in the last three years. In 2016 the pass percentage was 65.37 pc against 61.59 pc of 2015. A total of 23,232 students passed out of the 34,829 students appeared in the examination. Of these, 8,641 were placed in first division and 13,500 in second and 1091 in third.
Students of private schools fared better than the aided and government-run institutions. The pass percentage of private schools students is 74 while those from aided school are 52.15 percent and the government is just 45.70 percent.
