Manipur hosts first Corporate Social Responsibility conclave

Imphal, Sep. 6 (EMN): The first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) conclave of the country was organised by the department of Textiles, Commerce and Industry, Government of Manipur with the support of Fourth Dimension Global held in Imphal on Friday.

Inaugurating the conclave, Chief Minister N Biren Singh invited the corporate houses of the country and abroad to partner with the state in different ventures.

Informing that the state authority had identified social sector including education, skilling, healthcare, social development and human development as top priority areas for CSR funding, he said schools, colleges, anganwadi centres, old age homes, shelter homes, skilling centres are only a few possibilities offering scope for CSR investment which would definitely have a greater positive impact on social development.

spaeking at the closing function, Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla stressed on the need for corporate bodies of the country to invest CSR funds within the norms provided by the Government of India and with the state government’s objective.

Dr. Heptulla said that she would take the opportunity to seek strong, committed and proactive partnership of the corporate bodies to invest their the in the state. For this , she added that department officers are ready to discuss, examine, explore and undertake effective partnerships for socio-economic development of the state.

Despite the remoteness of the state from the main parts of the country, the governor said the Act East Policy and the opening up of South East Asia is gradually transforming Manipur into a hub of India’s gateway to South East Asia.

Business-to-government meetings, discussion for CSR partnership between departments and corporate bodies and presentations from departments and corporate houses were the main highlights of the conclave.

On the expected outcome of the conclave, Chief Executive Officer Minakshi Batra of Fourth Dimension Global,said that they are ready to advice both the corporate and governments to familiar each other with a clear focus on certain important and priority areas for sustainable development.
