Imphal, July 2 (EMN): The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Manipur state branch honoured seven senior doctors as part of National Doctors’ Day on Thursday.
The senior doctors were Dr. M Angamla, Dr. Sanasam Mema Devi, Dr. Th Laxmikanta Sharma, Dr. N Jitendra Singh, Dr. Th Sudhirchandra Singh, Dr. O Ibomcha Singh and Dr. Ak Khamba Singh.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]Earlier in a press release, IMA Manipur stated that National Doctors’ Day 2021 was more meaningful as it is being observed in the backdrop of the present pandemic, where more than 1500 doctors of the country including 12 doctors from Manipur have laid down their lives in the fight against Covid-19.
“The Association has decided to dedicate the day to the ‘Covid Martyrs’ by paying them homage. has also decided to honour all the frontline Covid doctors, who have dedicated their lives to the supreme service of humanity”, said the release.
National Doctors’ Day 2021 was virtually observed under the theme “Save the Saviours”. It is celebrated across the country on July 1 every year to mark the birth and death anniversary of the renowned physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy and to appreciate all doctors for selfless work and dedication towards serving humanity.
In a message, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, “Today, let us resolve to make their (doctors) task easier by keeping oneself safe from the pandemic. Let us resolve to provide them a safe environment to enable them to deliver the services expected from the medical fraternity”.
