Imphal, March 11 (EMN):
Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, on Thursday inaugurated a one-day panel discussion on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 held at City Convention Centre in Imphal.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh stated that officials of government departments should interact with the public regularly and hear their grievances so as to make the public feel that government is for the people.

Lauding the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his far sighted vision, he said that NEP has been revised taking in view the importance of quality education in making the country a global power. He added that the NEP 2020 is an India centric education policy. He urged all the teachers to render their teaching services wholeheartedly. 

Pointing out that education is the backbone of a society, Singh stated no progress and development could be achieved without education.     

In his speech, the deputy chief minister, Y Joykumar Singh, stated that human resource is the most important resource of a country, He added that it is through proper education that youths could be shaped to develop better human resources. He further stated that education provides the ability for rational thinking, which is necessary for solving any issues

Sharing his opinion, the Education minister, S Rajen Singh, stated that NEP 2020 has been introduced under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a better country. He added that the policy would be fully implemented within 2035.

Stating that teaching profession has a very big role in shaping a society, he appealed to all the teachers to take their responsibility with commitment.

The panel discussion would have two technical sessions consisting of school education and higher education.

The deputy chairman of State Planning Board, L Rameshwor, MLA Paonam Brojen, commissioner of Higher and Technical Education M Harekrishna, commissioner of Education-Schools T Ranjit, officials from Education department and representatives of student unions attended the function.
