The proposed indefinite bandh on highways by the two hills based student’s organizations-Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) General headquarters and the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has been suspended temporarily following an understanding with the state government.
“The KSO GHQ and ANSAM have decided to suspend its indefinite bandh for 10 days time which was slated to commence from midnight of February 1, 2016,” says a joint press statement of the two students organizations which was made available here this evening. “The decision to suspend the bandh was taken in the aftermath of the 2 hours long meeting held late in the evening today with the government in which the government has given its assurance to fulfill the demand of the two students organizations within the stipulated 10 days time”.“Failing which the proposed (indefinite bandh on highways) will come into force at any time,” the KSO General Secretary Seiboi Haokip and ANSAM Education secretary AC Thotso warned in their joint statement.
