Manipur governor distributes awards to different personalities

Imphal, Sep. 15 (EMN): Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Thursday distributed Governor’s Award and RK Sanatombi Devi Award to different personalities in the field of teaching, traffic control, nursing, sports, differently-abled person and best student during a function in Imphal.
Expressing that human resource development is vital to a nation’s strength, the governor said that the progress and prosperity in education are the key elements where the central purpose of education is to inculcate the students towards the ability to think and apply one’s knowledge which they acquire in class rooms for solving social problems.
He said that the responsibility of imparting knowledge and education rests with the teachers who are considered to be moral guardians, friends, philosophers and guides in moulding the character of students.
In his speech, Education Minister Basantakumar said, education is not just to be literate but to understand the world around. He said, students should have the courage to stand and speak their viewpoints and to be good listeners.
La Ganesan handed over the Governor’s Award to Khumbongmayum Panshi (Class 10) and Evana Thangjam (Class 10).
