Imphal, Jan. 13 (EMN):
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the state’s present government will not encourage favouritism and nepotism as the government is committed to delivering transparency in the state.

The chief minister was speaking at a uniform kits distribution programme for police personnel at the 1st Manipur Rifles parade ground on Monday in Imphal.

Stating that law and order situation in the state has tremendously improved, he appealed to the public to support the government in curbing corruption in recruitment, promotion, transfer and postings in various departments.

The chief minister said the programme was significant as it provided an opportunity to give respect to police personnel for their duties towards safeguarding lives and maintaining peace in the region.

It is due to the commitment and hard work of the police department the government has been able to combat the drug menace in the state, he said.

Reminding the gathering about the sub-standard belt scam in the department, he said the government will never let such scandals happen again.

He also assured that branded and standard uniforms would be provided to all the police personnel.

DGP Manipur LM Khaute appreciated the initiatives taken up by the government for the welfare of the state police force.

The uniforms were distributed to 37 districts police superintendents and commanding officers of different battalions based in the state.
