Manipur government declares half-day holidays on account of Sangai Festival

Imphal, Nov. 28 (EMN): Manipur government has declared a half-day holiday on November 29 and 30th  on account of the ongoing 11th edition of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022, the biggest state tourism promotion festival in the Northeastern state.

“The Governor of Manipur is pleased to declare a half-holidays post noon on November 29 and 30,2022 for all government offices including  educational institutions(Government/Aided/Un-Aided/Private),Public sector undertakings/corporations/Autonomous Bodies/Societies under the Government of Manipur to enable the government employees and others to attend the ‘Manipur Sangai Festival 2022’being celebrated with the theme,The Festival of Oneness,”says Deputy Secretary(General Administration Department) in a government order issued on Monday.

Prior to this, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh had also made an announcement in this regard on social media.

In a Facebook post, Singh wrote, “Pleased to declare that the state will observe a half-day holiday on November 29th and 30th in connection with the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022.”

The chief minister further added, “I urge the people of the state to take the opportunity and attend the ‘Festival of Oneness’ during these last two days.”

The 11th edition of the Sangai Festival 2022, a 10-day long annual cultural-cum-tourism festival, started on November 21 with a gala inaugural function at its main venue Moirang Khunou, 55 km south of Imphal located near the Keibul Lamjao, the only natural habitat of state animal-Sangai, a brow-antlered deer and world’s only floating national park.

Bollywood divas Nargis Fakhri and Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta walked the ramp for the well known fashion designers Kumarjit Laishram and Robert Naorem in the opening day and 6th day of the ongoing festival at Moirang Khunou and Churachandpur while Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen will air-dash here to appear on stage for the closing day in Imphal on November 30.
