Manipur Governor visits vaccination centre

Imphal, Feb. 2 (EMN): Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Wednesday, accompanied by the senior health officials visited the Covid-19 vaccination centre at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat in Imphal East district.
As part of the visit, he also distributed Covid vaccination certificates, pens and badges to those fully jabbed with second vaccination doses and immunity doses belonging to different age groups and professions.
Interacting with the doctors, nurses, frontline workers and other related officials of JNIMS and Health department, the Governor discussed matters relating to the vaccination status of the state with the Covid-19 vaccination team of JNIMS.
Additional chief secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Vumlunmang Vualnam, Prof. Laishram Deben Singh, director of JNIMS, doctors and other concerned officials were present during the Governor’s visit amongst others.
As of February 2, the state has so far given 25,20,471 doses of Covid vaccines including 14,34,968 first, 10,53,338 second doses and 32,165 precaution doses to the residents.
Meanwhile, the state reported 322 new Covid-19 positive cases, out of 2,116 samples tested in the last 24 hours, officials said. The state’s total infection tally increased to 1, 33,905. The total number of active cases also increased to 3,943.
The state reported three Covid deaths from Imphal West and Imphal East districts in the last 24 hours, official sources said. The state’s Covid 19 death toll stands at 2,053.
On the other hand, with 337 new recoveries including 241 from home isolation in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 1, 27,909. The state’s recovery rate stood at 95.52 %, according to a press release issued by the state health department’s spokesperson.
Presently, 1219 Covid-19 positive cases are under home isolation. Till date 15, 31,944 persons were tested for Covid-19 at the various testing centres in the state, it said.
