Manipur Governor visits Sainik School Imphal
Ajay Kumar Bhalla and his wife with army personnel, staff and students of Sainik School Imphal.


IMPHAL — Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, accompanied by his wife Jyoti Bhalla, on Monday visited Sainik School Imphal (SSI) at its Pangei premises in the outskirts of Imphal, to attend a series of events.


Governor Bhalla was also joined by GOC of Red Shield Division, Maj. Gen. SS Kartikeya, who is the chairman of LBA SSI along with Principal (SSI) Col. A Rajiv.


The governor laid a wreath at the ‘Amar Jawan’ memorial stone, honouring the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. The solemn tribute was followed by a majestic guard of honour presented by the cadets and the school band.


During the visit, Bhalla inspected various built-up areas and reviewed ongoing development projects, including the construction of the girls’ hostel in the school campus. He also inaugurated a new Water ATM near the Vikram Batra Auditorium, in the presence of officials from the Public Health Engineering Department.


As part of the nationwide initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ the governor and his wife also planted a ‘Holy Rudraksha’ tree (Elaeocarpus ganitrus) each within the campus.

Bhalla also formally released the school’s annual magazine, ‘Orchid’ during a special programme at the Vikram Batra Auditorium.


Expressing the confidence that the cadets of SSI would go on to excel in diverse fields and hold positions of great responsibility, he encouraged them to uphold the values of discipline, determination, and service to the nation.


He also interacted with the cadets, which motivated and encouraged them to pursue excellence in all spheres of life.


Principal of SSI, Colonel A Rajiv, expressed gratitude to the governor for his continued support and encouragement to the youth of Manipur.


Further, the governor also witnessed a vibrant display of cultural performances by the cadets, showcasing their talent and spirit. The event concluded with the governor penning his reflections in the visitor’s book, marking the end of a memorable and meaningful day at SSI.
