Imphal, June 19 (EMN): Manipur Tourism Minister, Oinam Lukhoi Singh inspected the Indian National Army (INA) headquarters’ building at Moirang on Saturday.
The site still withstands the worst of machine gun fires and bomb splinters during the 2nd World War in Manipur.
The state government under the leadership of Chief Minister, N Biren Singh is taking up the process of preserving the land and houses, where the bombs fell during the 2nd World War in Manipur as a historical site.
The visit was taken up as part of inspecting various projects undertaken by the Tourism department in Bishnupur district. The ministerial team also inspected the ongoing construction work of underground parking and its components located near the INA Martyrs’ Memorial Complex located in the heart of Moirang market.
Lukhoi Singh was accompanied by local MLA P Sharatchandra Singh of Moirang, Additional Chief Secretary of Tourism, P Vaiphei, Director of Tourism, Ibohal Singh and concerned officials of the department.
The minister thanked the landowner for preserving the house. He also stated that the government is continuously working towards boosting the tourism sector of the state by preserving the major historical sites of the state. He informed that most of the ongoing Tourism projects would soon be inaugurated once the Covid-19 situation is under control.
Many continue to support the government’s effort in fighting Covid-19 pandemic by donating to the Chief Minister’s Covid-19 Relief Fund.
Mansa Enterprises, Ranchi donated 50,000 surgical and N95 masks to the fund on Saturday. It was made through Agriculture minister, Oinam Lukhoi Singh and was handed over to Chief Minister, N Biren Singh by a team led by their Director Shivatanuku in presence of Lukhoi. Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee, Thangal Bazar in Imphal also donated INR 1,25,000 along with 6,000 Calpol 650 mg tablets, 1,700 Cimune tablets, 300 Munity tablets, 800 Sigcee tablets, 100 PPE Kits, 10,000 3-ply face masks and 3,600 Somo-L 650. Biren Singh expressed sincere gratitude to those who contributed to the fund.
