Imphal, April 19 (EMN): Manipur government has instructed all officials of various departments to be stationed at their respective place of posting for functioning of the offices.

“They are to reside in the government accommodation in the sub-division/block of their respective place of posting, if available, and in absence of government accommodation, they may stay at a rented place and seek reimbursement of the rent subsequently, with rates of rent to be vetted by finance department,” says an office memorandum on Monday.

“It has, however, come to the notice of the government that in spite of these instructions, many officers/officials are not stationed at their places of posting and continue to reside at their home towns,” the office memorandum signed by Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar said.

“This has not only hampered the functioning of the offices but also caused immense hardships to the public at large, and has been viewed very seriously.”

Chief Secretary also directed the all deputy commissioners (DC) and Superintendents of Police to remain in their respective districts at all times and any movement out of the district should be done only with the permission of the chief secretary/Director General of Police.

They should ensure that all district level officers (DLO) and other officers/officials attend office regularly and remain within the district jurisdiction.

If they are required to travel out of their district/sub-division/block of posting, prior permission from the deputy commissioner should be obtained compulsorily.

“If any officers/officials are found absent from their places of posting, it is to be immediately brought to the notice of the chief secretary,” the memorandum added.

Directing all DCs should also make arrangements for installation of Biometric Attendance System in the DC Office and all DLO offices immediately, it said that the Director (IT) should be consulted for linking data flow to the central server for regular monitoring at state level.
