Imphal, Nov. 17 (EMN): Chief Ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland will be attending the upcoming 10 day Manipur Sangai Festival which is scheduled to begin at different venues with Hafta Kangjeibung in Imphal as its main venue from Nov. 21.
President of India Ram Nath Kovind will formally inaugurate both 8th Manipur Sangai Festival 2017 and North-East Development Summit simultaneously on Nov. 21.
A curtain Raiser of the Festival will be held at Keibul Lamjao, the only floating wildlife sanctuary in the world on Nov. 19.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren informed this while speaking to the media persons on the sideline of the joint Hill Leaders’ Day and People’s Day( Meeyamgi Numit) at his official bunglow at Imphal on Friday.
Thousands of people turned up to highlight their grievances during the day at CM’s Secretariat where Biren attended to as many as 500 complaints and personally met nearly 1500 people from 8 am to 3 pm.
Biren said the health insurance scheme for BPL families which would provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for medical treatment would be launched on January 1, 2018.
He mentioned that to ease the financial burden faced by widows, application forms for the health care insurance scheme for widows is being issued.
A media team from Myanmar would also visit the state and interact with the media persons of the State during the festival. An exhibition football match will be played between women football team from Mandalay and Manipur women football team under the theme “Connecting through Sports” during the 10 days long Sangai Festival, he added.
