Manipur extends curfew in seven districts till June 30

Imphal, June 11 (EMN): Considering the surge in positive Covid-19 cases and rising death toll in the state, the curfew, which was imposed in Manipur’s seven districts, has been extended till June 30 with ‘limited permitted activities’.
The districts are Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur and Ukhrul. The restrictions on inter-district movements regarding the remaining nine districts would also stands till June 30.
An order from the state chief secretary, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, who is also the chairperson of state executive committee under the State Disaster Management Authority, on Friday said that the restrictions need to be continued till the cases considerably decline. The order stated that the DCs and SPs of police should take necessary action to implement the orders strictly.
It stated that workshops, motor spare parts shops and insurance offices would be open till June 30. It additionally permitted opening of Airlines city booking reservation office and Railways booking reservation office in Imphal from 10 am to 2 pm (except on Sunday) following adequate precaution and stern Covid appropriate behaviour.
Initially the state authority ordered curfew in the districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur and Ukhrul with effect from May 8 to May 17 after areas under Imphal Municipal Corporation and Greater Imphal were imposed restriction for ten days.
