Manipur Education minister meets student bodies on NEP 2020

Imphal, Aug. 22 (EMN): Manipur Education Minister Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam on Saturday held a meeting with the representatives of students’ organisations to discuss how the new National Education Policy, 2020 can be effectively implemented in the state.

Representatives of almost all the important student bodies in the state attended the meeting which was held at the conference hall of Samagra Siksha, Manipur at Babupara in Imphal.

Dr. Radheshyam appreciated the important roles played by the students’ organisations in improving the education system in the state. Informing that the meeting was held to understand the new education policy and analyse in detail for effective implementation of the policy in the school, teacher’s training and higher education section. Dr. Radheshyam hoped that suggestions and views would be shared by the representatives of the students’ organisations in the meeting.

Pointing out the need for understanding the new education policy for effective implementation, he said a series of meetings are being organised by the department of Education adding that the better understanding of the National Education Policy, 2020 will help in bringing the best education system in the state based on the Indian ethos.

During the meeting, Dr. Radheshyam also highlighted some of the major reforms in the National Education Policy, 2020 as such the new 5+3+3+4 school curriculum, teaching of students of upto Grade 5 in mother tongue/regional language and multiple entry/exit to be allowed with appropriate certification in UG education. Dr. Radheshyam appealed to all the stakeholders to analyse the policy and contribute in implementing the policy with suggestions and opinions.
