Dimapur, May 25 (EMN): Two more new active Covid-19 cases have been detected in Manipur, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 34, out of which 30 are active.

An update from Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and Spokesperson of Health Department, Manipur, which was issued on Monday morning, informed that the new Covid-19 cases were detected on Sunday night (May 24) at the Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).

‘The 33rd case is a male (26 yrs) from Churachandpur district and is now in isolation facility of District Hospital Churachandpur. The 34th case is also a male (21 yrs) from Noney district and will be shifted to Covid care facility, RIMS. Their conditions are stable,’ read the official update.

It may be mentioned that Manipur, like most north-eastern states, witnessed a huge spike in Covid-19 cases after the inter-state movement was relaxed and special trains were introduced to take stranded people to their respective states.

Manipur became the first state in the Northeast India to record Covid-19 case after a 23-year-old woman was tested positive for the novel coronavirus on March 24.
