IMPHAL — The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Friday released its election manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha election in the presence of the representatives of INDIA bloc allies at Congress Bhavan in Imphal.

MPCC President K Meghachandra, former Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya, Communist Party of India(CPI) Manipur state council leaders and Communist Party of India (Marxist) state leaders were present during the event held on the sideline of a reception function of leaders of others parties who joined the Congress.

The voting for Inner-Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and Outer-Manipur parliamentary constituency will be held on April 19 and April 26.

Speaking at the event, Meghachandra, who is also a sitting congress MLA from Wangkhem assembly constituency, criticised the ruling government, claiming that the situation in Manipur has gone from bad to worse due to the callous neglect of the BJP/NDA government.

In its manifesto, the Congress promised to remove the present state government and heal the wounds of the communities and appointment of a Reconciliation Commission to bring about a political and administrative settlement that will be satisfactory to all the people of the state.

It also promised to ensure appropriate compensation and redress for victims of the conflict. Additionally, the manifesto also promised a final solution and agreement with the Naga groups on the basis of the preliminary agreement that had been agreed in 2013-14.

M Sakhi Devi, a woman leader of CPI Manipur state council, and N Loken, a senior congress man and former minister, also spoke on the occasion.
