Imphal, Aug. 10 (EMN): Appealing to all the government employees and the public to hoist the national flag at their houses as homage to the all freedom fighters, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the government would also observe various programmes across the state during the period.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering at the mass sale/distribution of national flags to government employees as a part of Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign to commemorate 75 years of Independence in Imphal.
The campaign is an initiative to encourage people to bring the tricolour flag home and to hoist it from August 13-15, this year, to mark the 75th year of India’s independence and also to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian national flag.
He said such an act of paying homage to the freedom fighters would imbibe a sense of nationalism and love for the motherland amongst the younger generations.
He maintained that every employee should perform their duties sincerely with dedication and honesty, adding that employees should refrain from any activities which would create tension among different communities.
On the honour and dignity of tricolor, he appealed to take utmost care and hoist the flag properly while hoisting it at their respective places. During the day’s gathering, which was attended by ministers, MLAs, representatives, chief secretary and DGP Manipur led top officials and employees, Biren also distributed the national flags to representatives of all government departments besides launching a T-shirt for a bike rally to be held on August 14.
Many employees were also vaccinated at a mobile COVID-19 vaccination centre opened by the Health department during the course of the gathering.
