Manipur CM inspects construction site for Sangai fest

Imphal, Sep. 1 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Singh accompanied by MLAs and senior officials on Thursday inspected the ongoing construction work at Moirang Khunou in Bishnupur district where Sangai Ethnic Park is being constructed.
Singh informed that the state government has invited President Droupadi Murmu to attend the Sangai Festival this year, for which the government is putting in much effort into constructing the park properly as the site will be the main venue for the Sangai Festival 2022.
Considering the suitability of the area, he expressed that the site for construction of the park and hosting of the festival was chosen near the habitat of Sangai (brow-antlered deer) as it will make visitors more aware of the state animal.
He further informed that Sangai Festival was held only at Imphal earlier. However, with the formation of his government, the festival is now held at different places including Keibul Lamjao and as Cherry Blossom festival at Mao.
Maintaining that Sangai stands for the whole state, he said that this year, the festival would be held at other places too including Khuga and Behiang where Manipur Southern Cultural Centre is being constructed.
Stating that he would visit the site frequently to look after the construction work, he appealed to the public to continue rendering their support.
Interacting with locals of Moirang Khunou, the chief minister expressed gratitude for according him a warm welcome by the people of Kwakta, Moirang Khunou and other neighbouring villages on his way to the Ethnic Park. Expressing satisfaction on the support of nearby people in widening the approach road to the park, he stated that such support from the public would be of big contribution towards such developmental works taken up by the government.
The Chief Minister also visited the INA War Memorial at Moirang and inspected the ongoing work at the site.
