Manipur CM distributes national flag to govt. employees

Imphal, Aug. 11 (EMN): A day after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh distributed national flags to government employees as part of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to commemorate 75 years of Independence in Imphal, the district administrations of Bishnupur, Chandel, Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal on Aug. 11 organised several programmes as part of the upcoming event.

In Bishnupur, the district administration organised a walkathon to inspire the people of the district to hoist the national flag atop their homes.

Similarly, the Food Safety Administration, Chandel, in collaboration with Agricultural Technology Management Agency and District Agriculture office Chandel organised, “Eat Right Walkathon and Eat Right Mela,” while district administration of Tengnoupal distributed national flags to commuters on Indo-Myanmar highway.

Also, the Kangpokpi district administration hoisted the Indian national flag at Mount Koubru, which is one of the highest mountain ranges in the state, as part of the ongoing campaign.

The day’s event was organised by the district administration Kangpokpi in collaboration with the Nehru Yuva Kendra Kangpokpi and Kangpokpi forest division.

On hoisting of the flag at the mountain top, DC Kangpokpi Kengoo Zuringla said the idea is to celebrate the spirit of freedom and to be grateful to the motherland.

She called upon the citizens to participate in the celebration of Independence week from August 11 till the 17th.

For the event, the Divisional forest officer Kangpokpi issued necessary guidelines on keeping the mountain clean and to protect the plants and animals.
