The incident took place when suspected Myanmar-based militants attacked three border villages--Choro, Wanglee and Namlee--between 4am and 6am on Thursday, forcing the villagers to flee to nearby hill ranges for safety, it said.
One woman sustained bullet injuries on her limbs, the source added, claiming that many houses were torched at Choro village, while one house each at Namlee and Wanglee villages were damaged. Two four-wheeler vehicles and valuable items also went missing from these villages following the attack.
Choro village is under Chassad Police station, while Wanglee and Namlee are under Kasom Khullen Police station. These border villages are located about 50 south-east of Kamjong district headquarters.
Meanwhile, local MLA Leishiyo Keishing, who represents the Phungyar assembly constituency under Kamjong district, visited the affected villages on Friday.
