Manipur CM chairs state consultative committee meeting for Covid-19

Imphal, July 25 (EMN): The state consultative committee for Covid-19 meeting held at the chief minister’s office on Saturday minutely discussed the local transmission scenario in some places of three districts-Jiribam, Thoubal, and Churachandpur, sources said.

The consultative committee meeting which was chaired by the state Chief Minister N Biren Singh was attended by ministers, MLAs, chief secretary, DGP Manipur, directors of RIMS, JNIMS, health services and others.

Confirming the report, Singh on Saturday tweeted, “Meeting of the state consultative committee for Covid-19 held today at my office minutely discussed on the local transmission scenario in some places of Jiribam, Thoubal and Churachandpur districts. Stringent contact tracing is being done and continuing to trace out possible positive cases.”

Meanwhile the district authority of Senapati ordered to shut down the district hospital with immediate effect after a medical officer working at Senapati district hospital tested positive for Covid-19 on July 24, official sources said. The district magistrate of the district had also issued an order in this regard.

So far, Manipur has recorded a total of 2,176 Covid-19 positive cases while the total active and recovered cases stand at 656 and 1520, official sources said.

In the past 24 hours, 30 persons including 25 males, 5 females, were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases at Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratories of RIMS (24), JNIMS (1), district hospitals of Thoubal (1) and Ukhrul (4), according to an official press release from the state authority.

All (except three persons from Imphal east, Imphal west and Thoubal) are returnees from other states, it said. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release said.

On Saturday, 29 persons were discharged from Covid care facility RIMS, Covid care centres of Meitram, RD Wing Lamphel, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Senapati, and Chandel. As of Saturday, 315,654 people were screened at various entry points of the state while 76,992 samples were tested for Covid-19, according to the latest report of the state surveillance officer of the integrated disease surveillance programme.
