Manipur CM Biren Singh says all possible efforts taken up for restoring peace

Imphal, May 21 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday said all possible efforts had been taken up to restore peace and normalcy in the state.

Biren Singh was speaking at the observation of Anti-terrorism Day, 2023 here in Imphal on Sunday. Power Minister Th Biswajit Singh, senior state government officials were also present during the observation.

He said, ‘every community residing in the state is like family members and it is a part of life that family members sometimes quarrel with one another,’ adding that the need of the hour is to put efforts to restore the love and brotherhood among different communities.

Sharing unhappiness over the report of people taking shelter at different places outside the state, fearing violence, he expressed desire to bring them back by forming a team.

He further appealed to the public not to organise any rally, protest or hold placards and banners which would hurt the sentiments of other communities.

Urging the public to have faith in the government, he said essential items necessary for relief camps had been looked into, with a team of ministers and MLAs. Books are being distributed to students staying at relief camps and pregnant women are shifted to safer places, he added.

On the core idea of observing the Anti-terrorism Day, he maintained that the day is being observed across the country to condemn terror activities of every form and root it out. He continued that terror activities happening in different parts of the world had caused many serious impacts and hardships to mankind; he stressed the need to stand together against terrorism.

In his speech, the Power Minister appealed to the public to forget and forgive what had already happened and to take part in restoring peace and tranquility.

On observing Anti-terrorism Day, he stated that the significance of the observation is spreading the message for maintaining peace, harmony and unity among people.

During the day’s observation, the chief minister administered Anti-terrorism Day pledge to all present at the venue. One minute silence was also observed for all the losses incurred during the recent violence occurred in the state.

Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, senior civil and police officials also attended the programme which witnessed presentation of songs by Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Government Music College.
