Imphal, Nov. 23 (EMN): With the objective to protect Amur Falcons and give safe passage during their international migration, Amur Falcon Club (AFC) Tamenglong was formed in Manipur.
Wildlife warden Nehemiah Panmei of Tamenglong when contacted said that the Club will have all the village chiefs and youth wings in all the areas where there are roosting sites Amur Falcons.
The club will have five executive members and advisory board. Nemchei Gangmei has elected as the secretary of the club..
“The club will work towards community participation in the protection of the birds through awareness building and will try to protect their traditional roosting sites,” said the wildlife loving community leader who had earlier initiated documentation of bird species in Tamenglong.
Amur Falcons arrive in Tamenglong district in large numbers during October-November every year in search of food and adaptable habitation.
