Manipur: Churachandpur police arrests four persons with arms and ammunitions

Imphal, Feb. 18: Churachandpur district police under the supervision of SP Churachandpur, Addl. SP (Law and Order) Churachandpur and officer in-charge, Churachandpur Police Station arrested four persons including two cadres of two different armed groups, which are under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the government along with arms and ammunitions on Friday.

The incident happened when the district police team intercepted one white SUV/Creta vehicle (MN 04A- 9811), based on an information that some unknown armed persons, suspected to be SoO Cadres were visiting some villages at Saikot area around 12:30 am.

One black 9mm Pistol (body number slightly scratched and likely to be of Police department) and one live round inside one magazine was seized from Khailam Haokip of B Vungnom, Churachandpur.

Khailam is said to be a KNA cadre, stationed at Salem (SoO) camp. One 12 bore pump action gun (body no. 280022021) also seized along with one Nokia mobile phone from Chonminlal Manlun (39), a cadre of ZDV and resident of Songjang Village SPT, the source added.

Two of their associates in the car were identified as Khaiminlian Manlun (48 years) of New Zouveng and Samual Pauthianmang (31 years) of P Kamdoveng.

All of them were also arrested in the case and brought along with the seized articles at the Churachandpur police station.

A regular case has been registered against the accused persons for investigation, the source added.
