Manipur Chief Minister asks outside entrepreneurs to invest in the region

[dropcap]M[/dropcap]anipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today appealed to entrepreneurs from outside the state to invest here, assuring security protection and other basic amenities to them.
Addressing an event “Publicity & Road Show on IT, SEZ Manipur” at Hotel Imphal here, the Chief Minister also said the sectors of IT and tourism have been booming in all parts of the globe, and that the state Government too has given heavy focus on these sectors.
Ibobi said entrepreneurs from outside are cautious about the law and order situation in the Northeast, particularly Manipur and so they are unwilling to come here.
The Chief Minister said, “Law and order situation in Manipur has been significantly improved. The people here have faith in amity without which development is not possible.”He appealed to entrepreneurs from outside the state to invest here and assured security protection and other basic amenities for them.
Ibobi assured that top schools will be set up at the proposed IT, SEZ and IIT campus for the state where top schools will be established to provide education to entrepreneurs’ children.
The Chief Minister further said the Centre has already given approval to the state Government to introduce visa-on-arrival to tourists in Chandel district’s Moreh, adding plans are also afoot to set up an integrated check post there.
Promising to turn Manipur into a world class tourist destination, Ibobi said wide scale tourism infrastructure will be developed in the coming years to that end.
He said that the region being a corridor will facilitate practical cooperation and cross- linking among the countries of South East Asia.
The event was organised by FALTA-SEZ of Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India in collaboration with the state Department of Information & Technology.
