The Manipur Cabinet has approved the establishment of a State Climate Centre under the CITIIS 2.0 programme.

IMPHAL — Manipur Cabinet on Tuesday approved the establishment of a State Climate Centre under the City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain (CITIIS 2.0) programme to strengthen climate data generation and support evidence-based planning and policymaking.
The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at the Cabinet Hall of the Secretariat in Babupara, Imphal, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Arts and Culture Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, and other senior state officials.
Sharing photographs of the meeting on X, the Chief Minister said the Cabinet deliberated on key policy matters and decisions aimed at the state's progress.
"Chaired the Cabinet meeting today at the Cabinet Hall, Secretariat, to deliberate on key policy matters and decisions for the progress of Manipur. We remain committed to transparent, decisive, and people-centric governance for the welfare and development of every citizen," Khemchand posted.
Chief Town Planner N Benju Singh said the State Climate Centre would be established as part of the nationwide implementation of the CITIIS 2.0 programme.
"The objective of the centre is to generate and analyse climate data for Imphal's urban areas as well as the entire state, and integrate the findings into future planning and policy initiatives," Benju said.
He added that the centre would also conduct capacity-building programmes for municipal staff and undertake other climate-related activities.
The Cabinet also approved the promulgation of the Manipur Fire and Emergency Service Ordinance, 2026, aimed at updating the existing fire safety legislation, enhancing fire safety standards, and simplifying access to fire and emergency services for citizens.
In addition, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Unified Zoning/Use Regulation Bye-Laws for the Master Plan Areas of Manipur, 2026, to facilitate ease of doing business in the state.
