Manipur-bound truck driver, who was found unconscious in Kohima, dies

Kohima, June 13 (EMN): The Manipur-bound truck driver who was found unconscious at New Reserve Colony in Kohima on June 12, died on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified simply as Durga from Bokajan in Assam. The 50-year-old passed away at around 4 am, it was informed.
Confirming this to media persons, a doctor from Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima, said that the cause of death was hypertension with cerebrovascular accident (CVA), the “appropriate medical term for stroke”.
It was informed that an ambulance from Assam has arrived to collect the dead body.
The source also maintained that the hospital had disinfected the body and packed it in body bag to be transported to Assam.
The deceased was found unconscious above the New Reserve dairy farm in Kohima on Friday morning while on his way from Dimapur to Senapati in Manipur.
The handyman of the truck that was carrying goods for the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to Senapati had told on Friday that the driver was suffering from fever since Thursday evening before the vehicle reportedly had a ‘mechanical breakdown’ and stayed at the spot overnight.
With the intervention of the Nagaland government officials, including superintendent of police (SP), Kohima, a team of healthcare workers took the patient to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) for treatment.
Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru, Mission Director of National Health Mission, directorate of Health and Family Welfare, had informed the patient was not Covid-19 positive.
