Kohima, May 19 (EMN): The Manipur-bound truck that was stuck in a mudslide on National Highway-29 was pulled out on Wednesday night, and restoration of two-lane road for traffic along the stretch is underway.
SDO (Civil) Sechu Zubza, Tiayanger informed this newspaper that the truck was removed last night (Wednesday) and the two-lane movement of traffic will be restored as notified by the Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Gregory Thejawelie.
DC Kohima had informed in a travel advisory on Wednesday that vehicular movement at two stretches of road — Chainage KM 155 (Steel Bridge Area) of Kohima-Dimapur 4-lane road; and from Sechu Zubza Police Station to Peducha Check Post (Green Hills restaurant) – will be suspended between 12 am to 2 am from May 20 to the 27th.
It said this is required “in order to clear the obstructing soil and rock debris resulting from mudslide/ landslide and affecting the traffic movement along NH-29 at Peducha/Zubza ”.
As informed earlier by SDO (C) Sechu Zubza, the overloaded truck could not be removed as scheduled on Tuesday midnight as the empty trucks, to which the goods from the overloaded truck would be shifted, arrived late.
