Manipur BJP enrols 3 lakh members

Newmai News Network IMPHAL, January 21 [dropcap]M[/dropcap]anipur unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has so far enrolled 3 lakh new members in the party during the on-going mass membership drive in the state. The BJP’s mega membership drive was launched by party President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 1, 2014.The mass membership drive of the state BJP aims to enrol 6 lakh members in the party by March 31 this year.Meanwhile, BJP National Executive Member, Sh Shantikumar today launched the mass enrolment campaign for Thoubal constituency in Thoubal district. At the launch of membership drive at Haotabi in Thoubal Khetri Leikai, Shantikumar cleared that party flags and banners, and even advertisements can be used in the campaign. “I’m really sad to learn that some officials of Manipur BJP have given instruction not to use party flags and banners during online membership drive,” Shantikumar said. The former president of Manipur BJP unit said persons who have criminal records, members of other political parties and mentally-ill individuals are not allowed to register themselves in the party as members. He said membership campaign in-charge of the state BJP, Gangmumei Kamei and co-incharge M Ashinikumar will scrutinise the online-registered members after March 31. The BJP leader said any person who registers 100 new members in the party in his capacity can become an executive member of the party. Meanwhile, BJP Tamenglong Mandal also launched the membership campaign at Nungba subdivision of Tamenglong district. Manipur BJP unit enrolment drive in-charge Gangmumei Kamei launched the campaign in the presence of party general secretary (Organisations) S Premananda Sharma, Tamenglong district BJP president Simon Pamei, state secretary in-charge of Tamemglong district, Kharge Tamang, state BJP Kishan Morcha vice-president, TS Beton Anal and Nungba Mandal BJP president, Ading Golmei. The membership drive will continue in Tamei, Tousem and Tamenglong subdivisions too, Gangmumei said.
