Manipur beat Nagaland girls in final

Nagaland’s girls sepaktakraw team lost to host Manipur team in the finals of the 59th National School Games 2013-Sepaktakraw under-19(boys and girls) here today.In the final match played this afternoon, Nagaland’s girls team lost to Manipur team by 15-6,15-2 and 15-4. In another finals, Manipur’s boys team defeated Delhi by margin of 15-5,15-5 and 15-6.
In the semi final matches, Manipur’s boys team beat Uttar Pradesh by 15-5,15-1 and 15-11 while girls team beat Andhra Pradesh 15-6,15-10 and 15-13 to reach finals.
Earlier Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh bagged the third places in girls and boys. “Even though our team lost in the finals, we’re quite happy as our new and young girls managed to reach the finals unexpectedly”, said Nagaland team manager Arem Toshi when sought his comment.
“We hope our teams will do the best next time,” he added.
The closing ceremony of the games will be held at Khuman Lampak sports complex tomorrow morning with the state chief minister O Ibobi Singh as the chief guest.
It may be noted here that altogether 23 teams including 13 girls teams are taking part in the National School Games which was started from December 10 this year.The competition will conclude on December 15 by playing the final match on December 14.
