IMPHAL, July 10 (EMN): The second session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly will commence July 25. A state cabinet meeting held on Friday chaired by chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has taken a decision in this regard.
Subsequently, the state assembly secretary has issued a notification informing that the assembly session will be convened at 11 am on July 25.
Even though the State Cabinet agreed to convene the next Assembly session from July 25, the Business Advisory Committee would decide other details like the number of days the session should last.
Implementation of the Rani Gaidinliu Nupisingi Scheme which was also listed in the BJP manifesto and the Government’s 100 Days Action Plan was one agenda agreed upon by the State Cabinet, sources informed. Under this scheme, children of families whose annual incomes are lower than Rs 2.50 lakh would be given Rs 50,000 in two instalments. The Cabinet meeting agreed to launch a scheme of providing scooty to meritorious female college students.
Under this scheme, meritorious female students whose families’ annual incomes are lower than Rs 8 lakh would be given scooty. If the student is studying in either Science or Commerce stream, she should score not less than 80 per cent marks to qualify for the scheme. If she is studying in Arts stream, she should score minimum 75 per cent marks.
The State Cabinet also gave green signal to a new programme of giving a one-time incentive of Rs 50,000 to students belonging to landless families or poor peasants if they are pursuing technical courses in the State.
The State Cabinet also agreed to dissolve JNIMS Society in order to pave the way for management of JNIMS by the State alone. To promote e-vehicles by reducing registration fees under Manipur Electronic Mobility Policy 2022 was another agenda approved at the Cabinet meeting.
The Cabinet meeting also agreed to go for direct purchase of land in order to develop and enlarge the Moirang INA complex.
