Manipur administers 3.09 lakh anti-Covid jabs

Imphal, May 16 (EMN): Manipur has so far administered 3,09,596 anti-Covid jabs to its residents. Till date, 79,112 healthcare workers and frontline workers have received the second dose of vaccines.

The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated with the first dose of Covishield vaccine is 36,833 while 24,336 of them got the second dose, a Manipur Health department official said.

Similarly, 80,936 frontline workers received the first dose while 48,886 got the second dose of Covishield in the state.

Meanwhile, Manipur on Sunday recorded 677 new Covid-19 positive cases, according to a press release. The state’s total infection tally has risen to 39,729 besides increasing the total number of active cases to 6,477.

The new positive cases were detected at 31 testing centres spread across 13 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (263) and Imphal East (159) districts, as per the release of the Health department. 

On the other hand, the state reported total fatalities of 16 Covid-19 patients, taking Manipur’s death toll to 578.

The recovery rate continued to reduce to 82.24 percent though 399 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

As of Sunday, 6,75,113 persons were screened at the entry points of the state while 6,60,531 persons (including 3,364 persons in last 24 hours) were tested for Covid-19 at the various testing centres in the state.

Manipur police detained 175 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 56,400 was also collected as fine.
