Manipur ADC poll postponed to June 1

NNN Imphal, April 17 The election for the six Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) of Manipur has been postponed to June 1. Earlier, it was fixed for May 30.The decision was taken after a State Cabinet meeting today afternoon. The meeting was held at the Conference Room of the CM’s Secretariat and was chaired by Chief Minister O Ibobi. State government spokesperson M Okendro said that the election is being postponed as an important Christian event of Seventh Day Adventist Christian falls on May 30. As per the decision of the Cabinet meeting, the ADC election of June 1 will start from 7 am and will end at 4.30 pm. If the need arises, re-poll will be conducted on June 6. Vote counting will be done on June 10 and all the election related process will wind up by June 17. The election will be conducted by the State Election Commission. It may be mentioned that Draft Electoral Roll of this election was published on March 30. Last date of corrections to the roll is April 13, and the Final Electoral Roll will be released on April 20. The formal Public Notification of the ADC Election will be out on April 30.
