Manipur: 6th edition of Singju Festival 2022 from December 28

Imphal, Dec. 5 (EMN): Manipur is all set to witness the 6th edition of Singju Festival 2022 at the newly developed Heingang Marjing Polo Complex, located about 8 km north of Imphal in Imphal East district from December 28 till January 8 next year.
Singju is a traditional spicy salad having different locally available vegetables and herbs etc.
Adhyaksha P Bimola of Imphal East Zilla Parisad, who is also chairperson of the Singju Yokhatpa Lup-Singju development body, informed that the festival will be organised with the aim to promote the indigenous food and culture on the theme “Save Our Indigenous Food, Culture and Integrity” and will also feature various entertainment programmes.
In the 6th edition of the festival, different varieties of Singju will be made available for visitors.
The festival will also showcase other indigenous food items, handloom and handicraft products. During the 12 days of the festival, events like Singju Run, friendly football matches, tree plantation programmes, Singju Cycle Rally and Miss Singju contest will also be held, Bimola said.
The festival venue will have around 100 stalls showcasing indigenous handloom, handicrafts and food of Manipur, Assam, Tripura and Bangladesh. It may be recalled that the first Singju Festival under Singju Yokhatpa Lup was held at Nungsikol Park Channa in Imphal East district in 2016.
Meanwhile, an informed source claimed that a 10-day Bora (fritter) Festival will be held with cultural and entertainment programmes at Nambol from December 10 onwards. The festival will be organised by Kanglei Eco-tourism development association Nambol.
