Man gets 10 years RI for raping minor daughter

Agencies AIZAWL, FEBRUARY 20 A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping his minor daughter by a district court in Mizoram. Lunglei District and Sessions Judge Marly Vankung also slapped a fine of Rs 5000 on the convict, Beirachhua, and ruled that he would serve another two months if he fails to pay the amount. According to the prosecution, Beirachhua, a resident of south Mizoram's Saiha town, raped his minor daughter from his first wife several times The girl was staying with him after he divorced his first wife and married again. The victim's relatives filed a case against Beirachhua in 2012 and the verdict was delivered yesterday.
