Kohima, Aug. 24 (EMN): A man from Nagaland passed away on the morning of August 22, onboard a train headed to Ahmedabad from Delhi.
The deceased was identified as one Pilichem Sangtam (32), who breathed his last onboard the Delhi to Ahmedabad train while crossing Sihori district in Rajasthan.
Confirming this to Eastern Mirror, Asimbe, the president of Naga Students' Union Rajasthan (NSUB), informed that the deceased was travelling to Ahmedabad to visit his sister.
Asimbe also apprised that Sangtam passed away at around 4 am; while his body reached Abu road railway police station at around 6.15 am, according to police reports.
Asimbe said they were not allowed to see the corpse before family members or relatives of the deceased could reach the station.
Meanwhile, Sangtam's wife, his sister and others, reached the railway police station at around 10 pm to claim the mortal remains.
It was learned that an ambulance was arranged by the family members from Abu road to take his body back to Delhi.
The result of Covid-19 test on Sangtam returned negative, before being sent to Delhi.
Sources informed that the deceased had history of ‘heart problem’. The family members reportedly did not wish to conduct post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Yangtikhum Sangtam, the president of Delhi Eastern Nagaland Students' Union (Densu), informed that the body of the deceased reached Delhi around 10.30 am on Monday, August 24.
It was later taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences to prepare the body for burial.
The funeral service was conducted by Densu, while Bendang Lemtor, chaplain for North East Zone St. Stephen’s Hospital Delhi, performed the last rites at lndian Christian Cemetery at Burari in New Delhi.
