Our Correspondent Imphal, June 19 (EMN): The body of a 35-year-old man, who went missing after he was reportedly drowned at the reservoir of Khuga dam in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on June 18, was recovered on Wednesday morning after continuous search since Tuesday, police said. An official of Churachandpur police station when contacted on phone said that the body of the missing person was recovered during a search on Wednesday. He also informed that a case has been registered in connection with the incident and investigation is on. The incident happened when the victim, Meisnam Robindro and two of his colleagues, who were out on a picnic, reportedly jumped into the water for a swim while some of them were waiting near the reservoir which is about 10 km south of the Churachandpur town at around 4 pm, the source said. But Robindro, a resident of Chingdong village of Bishnupur district, failed to appear even after two of his colleagues’ returned back. On hearing the news, people from nearby villages started the search, and eventually joined by the district administration under the supervision of deputy commissioner of the Churachandpur district on Tuesday afternoon. The search continued with rescue teams of the State Disaster Response Force along with the locals and district administration on Wednesday morning and recovered the missing man from the reservoir of Khuga dam at around 11.30 am, said a police officer stationed at Churachandpur district headquarters, 65 km south of Imphal. The body has been handed over to the family after autopsy was conducted, he added.
