Man commits suicide in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, April 18 (EMN):
A 47-year-old-man hanged himself to death in his rented house at Arkong Ward in Mokokchung on April 17.

A late report from the Mokokchung Police informed that a man identified as Amir Hussain Laskar, from Shibpur village Par-II, PS-Lakhipur district of Cachar in Assam, was found hanging by a scarf in his room. A source said that the body was discovered at around 8.30 am.

It was reported that the deceased was a painter by profession and had been occupying a rented room at Arkong ward for the past five years.

According to the police statement, an inquest was conducted in the presence of the magistrate and medical personnel. The corpse was checked for any foul play but they did not find such evidence on the body, the police stated.

It was reported that the medical experts collected a sample, and post mortem was conducted at Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital. The corpse was later handed over to the Muslim community in Mokokchung to perform the last rites.

The police further stated that during the inquiry, a relative of the deceased person who was present at the police station, contacted the family and shared the tragic news. The family decided to bury the body in Mokokchung, it was informed.

According to records, the deceased person had arrived at Mokokchung from Assam on March 11, before the lockdown was imposed, and did not move out of town till his death.
