Man arrested for assaulting wife in Mokokchung
Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): A man has been arrested by Mokokchung Police in connection with alleged physical abuse and assault of his wife on the night of July 16.
Following a complaint on July 17, the district police launched an investigation.
During the initial investigation, it was established that the accused named Tiatemsu had bound the leg and hands of his wife, and used firewood and household items to beat her.
In this connection, Mokokchung Police arrested the accused on July 17 and a case has been registered under Mokokchung women police station; further investigation is underway.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Additional Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, Imtimeren jamir informed that the case has been registered under domestic violence. During the investigation, it was found that the accused was in an inebriated state (after undergoing alcohol test), he added.
Jamir informed that the injuries of the victim were severe; she was admitted to the hospital and later discharged. The accused has been kept under judicial custody and the case is registered under section 498A/326/341/342 IPC, it was informed.
