MALTD celebrates golden jubilee

Mopungchuket Ait Laishir Telongem Dimapur (MALTD) celebrated its golden jubilee today at DBIDL hall in the premises of Don Bosco School, Dimapur, on the theme ‘Wain Adi.’

Addressing the members, the guest speaker and Mon superintendent of police, Imnalensa Sanglir informed that six people started the MALTD in the year 1971. While mentioning about numerous challenges confronting the Naga society, Sanglir opined that unemployment is one among the many challenges. According to the national statistical office survey (2019-2020), Nagaland has the highest rate of unemployment with 24%.

The senior police officer, while stressing on the importance to have theoretical knowledge, stated that one must also inculcate critical analysis.

‘Naga people are more into government job but there is life beyond that and people must be ready to work in private sector as well,’ he said.

Sanglir advised the gathering to make the change and leave behind their footprint. While explaining the power of knowledge, Sanglier stated that unutilised knowledge would remain just information. He, therefore, encouraged the youth make used of their knowledge and capabilities for the welfare of the society.

Sanglir also urged the gathering to break the chain that is confining them and move forward with positive thoughts saying, ‘no one can make an individual inferior without their consent.’

He added that success is not the position one have in a society but true success could be measured through obstacles, challenges and problem one overcomes and become successful.

Earlier, the jubilee souvenir was released by Sanglir, while short speeches were also delivered by representatives from Mopungchuket Senso Telongjem Dimapur (MSTD), Mopungchuket Students’ Union (MALT), Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (Mopungchuket Students’ Union) (AKTD).
