‘Make Nagaland a model state for peace in India’

Dimapur, July 10 (EMN):
Director of Peace Channel, Fr. Dr. CP Anto, called upon the youth of Nagaland to be messengers of peace and “make Nagaland a model state for peace in India by 2030.”

Dr. Anto stated this, while addressing the gathering at inaugural function of a three-day inter-school peace seminar and the summer camp for the peace club members of Dimapur district, on July 10 at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School on the theme ‘Passion for excellence.’

Addressing the youth, Dr. Anto, who was the special guest of the programme, quoted Mahatma Gandhi who once said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” He also encouraged and motivated the participants to build peace and be a change makers in the family, schools and communities as they go back home. He also emphasised on passion and dream and setting one’s own aim/ goal for the future to make all peaceful and happy.

Also speaking on the occasion, Maj. Mohit Singh from Assam Rifles spoke on the importance of peace and the role of children and youth in building peace. He encouraged the participants to involve in peace movement under the banner of Peace Channel for a better society in future. He also spoke on the two types of peace: internal peace and external peace. According to him internal peace would make all to enjoy external peace.

In conclusion he stated that ‘A life without a goal is no life.’ He, therefore, exhorted all to set a goal for life to enjoy peace.

Elizabeth Lotha gave a motivational talk. She stated on the importance of children and youth to be the role models in the family and educational institutions. She also spoke on the importance of respect and dignity as the means to build peace in the family and community.

The main objective of the three-day seminar was to capacitate and empower the club members to learn non-violent communication, share their experiences in peace building as leaders and promote peace wherever they are.

The participants would also undergo various trainings on reconciliation, goal setting, peace and dialogue related topics. More than 200 students representing thirteen schools form Dimapur district are attending the programme.

Garrol Lotha said the invocation, while Nyeamying Konyak proposed the vote of thanks.
