Major General Harinder Singh Mavi assumes charge as IGAR (N) while Assam Rifles conducts civic projects in Nagaland.

DIMAPUR — Major General Harinder Singh Mavi assumed the role of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) on January 19. He relieved Major General Manish Kumar, Sena Medal (Bar).
According to an update, Mavi was commissioned into the 2 JAT Regiment in June 1994. He earlier served as a company commander in Assam Rifles in North Sikkim, commanded an infantry battalion in Jammu and subsequently a mountain brigade at Binnaguri.
He is a post-graduate from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and attended the Higher Command Course at Army War College, Mhow.
The general officer has operational experience in Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast.
He extended greetings to the people of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and committed to their progress in synergy with other stakeholders.
In other activities, the Assam Rifles inaugurated a watchtower at Chungtia village in Mokokchung district, constructed under Operation Sadbhavna 2025–26.

The inauguration was attended by Nokchasashi, joint commissioner; Asamwati, chairman of Chungtia Village Council; Rev. M Laka Tzudir, pastor of CBC; Major Toshikaba (retd), village council members, and Assam Rifles representatives.
Also, the force organised a tree plantation campaign at Langnyok, Noklak, on the theme “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam”. A total of 47 saplings were planted to enhance green cover and promote environmental awareness.
Furthermore, the Assam Rifles organised a free medical camp on January 17 and 18 at Wui and Choklangan villages in Noklak district.
A total of 265 civilians benefited from the services, which included general health check-ups, screening, and distribution of free medicines. The medical team also sensitised villagers on preventive healthcare and hygiene.
